*aufstehen, fertig packen, frühstücken und mein Host Alex hat mich zum Bus gebracht.
Um 9:35Uhr sind wir fast pünktlich abgefahren, vorauss. Ankunft in San Salvador ist 15:45Uhr.
Ich fuhr mit dem Transportes Galgos Inter für 120Q (17Us $) und ich war die Einzigste im Bus....:-/
Ca. 1,5h später hielt der Bus mitten in der Pampa an und wir warteten auf einen anderen  Bus.
Der Fahrer erklärte mir das dann alles auf Spanisch. Um 13Uhr kamen wir dann endlich an der Grenze in Guatemela an und wir "chekten aus" und wechselten den Bus. Dann fuhren wir ein paar Meter und "checkten" in El Salvador ein. Leider gibt es keinen Stempel im Reisepaß... weil Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras und Nicaragua zu den Central America-4 gehören. Da gibt es nur 1x einen Stempel. :-(
Ich habe dann meine restl. Quetzales in US$ gewechselt und bin um 17:15Uhr in San Salvador angekommen. Dort nahm ich dann einen Bus zum verabredeten Treffpunkt.
Normale Busse kosten 0,20 US$, die kleineren schnelleren Mikrobusse 0,25 US$.
Um 20Uhr hatte mein Host Paola Feierabend und wir sind dann zu ihr nach Hause. Um 22Uhr fielen wir alle müde ins Bett.

18. und 19.02.15
Strandtag in El Tunco. Es hat schwarzen Vulkan-Sandstrand, viele Surfer wegen den hohen Wellen und kaum Menschen, da es unter der Woche ist.
Gegen Mittag steigt das Wasser immer Höher und man hat kaum eine Chance noch einen Liegeplatz zu bekommen ohne Weggeschwemmt zu werden. 2h später zieht sich das Wasser wieder etwas zurück und man findet wieder einen Liegeplatz.
Ich habe das Landesgericht "Pupusa" versucht. Maisfladen mit Bohnen und Käse gefüllt. Sehr sehr lecker.
Irgendwie bin ich zur Zeit vll. etwas sentimentaler als sonst. Aber es versetzt mir einen Stich ins Herz, wenn ich die Armut sehe. Ein wirklich sehr alter, gebrechlicher Mann lief den Strand auf und ab (bei 35°-40°C) mit einer schweren Tasche (keine Ahnung was er verkaufen wollte). Er tat mir wirklich leid.
Er hat die Leute nicht mal angesprochen, nicht belästigt. Aber man kann ja auch nicht die ganze Welt retten....
Ich habe mein Buch fertig gelesen und aus Steinen eine Geburtstagsnachricht für meinen Freund gebastelt.
Die Strömung der Wellen ist wirklich stark. Ich war nur ganz nah am Ufer und die Wellen haben mich so mitgezogen, dass ich 3 untergetaucht wurde und einen Salto gemacht habe.... Da ging mir ganz schön die Sause.... Danach bin ich nicht mehr ins Wasser bzw. nur bis zu den Knien :o)
Am 19.02 kam dann auch Abends Sindy an, und wir sind zusammen zu Paola.Hier bleiben wir bis Sonntag bzw. Montag früh und dann gehts weiter nach Nicaragua.
Paola erzählte mir, dass sie schwanger ist und anfang März in die USA auswandert, damit sie ihr Baby dort bekommen kann und es amerik. Staatsangehörigkeit hat. Nach ca. 1 Jahr geht sie mit ihrem Freund nach China um dort zu arbeiten. Paola ist 22 Jahre jung. Sie sieht leider hier keine Zukunft für sich und ihr Baby. Solche Dinge, private Einblicke bekommt man eben nur, wenn man couchsurfing macht bzw. bei den Familien lebt.

20.02.15
Heute wollten Sindy und ich nach Suchitoto. Morgens hatte ich schon ein bisschen Bauchweh...
Dann fuhren wir los. Nach 30 Min. mussten wir den Bus wechseln am Terminal, dort habe ich mich dann erstmal übergeben.
Ich dachte, wenn es schonmal raus ist, wirds besser gehen... falsch gedacht. Es wurde immer schlimmer. Mir war so übel und der Kreislauf hat schlapp gemacht. Dass ich nicht bis Suchitoto fahren konnte und vorher aussteigen musste. Sindy ist mit ausgestiegen.
Nach einem 2x erbrechen ging es etwas besser. Aber ich hatte Bauchweh ohne Ende und dann die Hitze, der Kreislauf. Ich musste ins Bett. Insgesamt 4h Fahrtzeit hin- und zurück mit Buswechsel und durchfragen wie man wo hin kommt.
Ich hab 3 Kreuze gemacht, als ich gegen 14:15Uhr im Bett lag (heute hatten wir gott sei Dank einen Schlüssel von Paola bekommen)... und dann hab ich mich an meiner großen Reiseapotheke bedient und in Etappen bis zum 21.2 7Uhr morgens geschlafen.
--> da am 21.2 auch Marci's Geburtstag ist, haben wir natürlich geskypt und er durfte endlich sein Geschenk öffnen das ich vor meiner Abreise vorbereitet habe und meine Liebe Mama hat es dann pünktlich abgeschickt! <3 <3 <3

21.2.15 

Heute ging es mir schon viel besser! Ich wollte nur nicht zu weit weg. Deshalb blieb ich in der Stadt und Sindy ging nach sochitoto! Ich habe Santa Tecla "nuevo san Salvador" besucht. Es gab keine Touris, nur einheimische! Es war chaotisch, weil dort Markt war! Es gibt in El Salvador viele Veteran - verletzte und wirklich auffallend viel Armut!
San Salvador ist auch nicht besonders schön...es besteht aus Geschäftsgebäuden, Restaurants, Kirchen, ein paar Monumente im Kreisverkehr, Museen....nicht wirklich viel zu sehen (was für mich interessant ist).

22.02.15

Heute ging es nach Ataco und Juayu. Unsere host-Mama Cecy hat uns im 8Uhr zum Busterminal de Occidente gefahren und wir nahmen einen Direktbus (2,30 US$, 1:45Min.). Ataco Ist ein sehr kleines Dorf, das heute sehr voll mit Einheimischen und Touristen war (Sonntag). Es werden viele Souvenirs verkauft (=Taschen, Schlüsselanhänger, Geldbeutel usw.). Ich lief noch einen Berg hoch zu einem Kreuz, von wo aus man einen guten Ausblick über die Stadt hatte. Anschließend fuhren wir nach Juayua, eine Stadt/Dorf,welches am Wochenende bekannt für sein Essen und Livemusik ist! Es war auch hier sehr viel los! Aber diesmal fast nur einheimische! 

Sehr günstig ist es nicht! Naja, zur Zeit kann man ja auch den Euro fast mit dem Dollar gleichsetzen :-/

5 US$ kostet ein Essen dort! Ein Smoothie 1,50$, ein Becher mit gemischten Obst 1,00$.
Denkt immer an das 30 Euro Budget (Essen, Transport, Eintritte, Übernachtungen ...das summiert sich) :-p

Es fährt nie ein Bus direkt von Salvador nach Juayua. Auf dem Rückweg haben wir einen Stopp auf dem Rummel in Ahuachapan eingelegt. Die Riesenräder fahren Mega schnell und rückwärts ... Ich hab das Spektakel von Boden aus angeguckt! :-)

Danach ging es mit dem "Local-Bus"  nach San Salvador (1,00 US$, ca. 2:20h) mit an Bord war ein kleines Baby-vögelchen, das fast durchweg gezwitschert hat... :-p

Heute geht's nach Nicaragua!

Wir haben uns gegen den teuren 50US$ Bus entschieden und versuchen es auf eigene Faust! Im Internet haben wir eine gute Beschreibung gefunden für anscheinend nur ca. 15US$ und dieselbe Zeit...ca 10h. (siehe meinen anderen Blog Eintrag, Auf eigene Faust von El Salvador nach Honduras)

Alle die mich gut kennen, werden immer wieder schmunzeln und den Kopf schütteln, während ihr das liest... wenn ich über meine Ersparnisse bzw. über die Versuche schreibe....man muss ja gucken wo man bleibt! Schwäbin durch und durch!! 

5:25uhr aufstehen, 6:00uhr Haus verlassen

Bus (0,20US$) zum Busterminal "Oriente" in San Salvador genommen. Ca.1h Fahrt von unserem Casa und sehr voll. Wir waren mit unserem Gepäck hinten hinein gezwängt :-)

Weitere Busfahrt nach Santa Rosa de Lima (5US$). 4h.

Was auf der Fahrt immer wieder auffällt, dass generell in Zentral America Müll kein großes Thema ist (leider).

Alle werden allerlei (Plastik-) Verpackungen einfach aus dem Fenster, auf die Straßen, in die Wälder...in Guatemala habe ich vermehrt Menschen gesehen, die den Müll aufsammeln und die Strasseb reinigen...aber hier in El Salvador noch nicht! 

Und was mir auch noch einfällt... Die Frauen sind sehr gut geübt im Tragen von schweren Sachen auf ihrem Kopf! Faszinierend!! In den Local-Bussen kommen bei fast jedem Stop Verkäufer rein und verkaufen Essen, Getränke, usw. Man verhungert und verdurstet auf kein Fall!

In Santa Rosa de Lima nimmt man einen Bus direkt bis zur "Frontera El Amatillo" (12:15-12:45Uhr, Dauer: 30Min., 1US$) z.B. #330.

*Auschecken in El Salvador. 

Die Fahrradtaxis sind absolut unnötig!! Anschließend läuft man zur Immigration "Honduras" und muss ein kurzes Formular ausfüllen und eine 3US$ - Gebühr bezahlen! Es besteht kein Grund Geld zu wechseln für die 2h im Land!! Dann läuft man zu den Shuttles, die direkt daneben nach Guasaule abfahren. Unserer fuhr um 13:30Uhr los. (Dauer: 2h, Kosten: 6US$). --> keine A/C, gefühlte 40C, man sollte genügend Wasser dabei haben!

Dort wird man wieder von Fahrradtaxis überrollt! Nach der ganzen Busfahrt, tut es gut das Stück zu laufen. Ca. 10-15 Minuten über eine Brücke, vorbei am LKW-Stau zum Auschecken in Honduras (mit Stempel) und dann Einchecken in Nicaragua. 

Hier kommt eine 12 US$ Gebühr auf einen zu! :-/ man bekommt eine Tourismuskarte und darf dann weiter! Einfach ein paar hundert Meter über den Parkplatz laufen. Dort hat ein LKW-Fahrer angeboten uns mit nach Léon zu nehmen...ich zögerte kurz...wäre ein Abebteuer...aber ich hab meiner Reisebegleitung Sindy und meinen Liebsten zu Hause versprochen nicht zu trampen... Der Bus fuhr auch gleich um 16:00 Uhr los nach Léon. (Dauer: 2,15 h, Kosten: 2US$ --> noch kann man in Dollar bezahlen). Dort ist es sinnvoll ein Taxi zu nehmen 80COR/Taxi), ca. 3-4km bis zur Innenstadt. Nach über 11h hat man dann 3 Länder bereist :-) 

Wir sind im Hostel "Kolibri" gelandet (Dorm, 8US$/Person mit Frühstück), das "Sonati" war leider ausgebucht (Dorm:5-6US$/Person ohne Frühstück).

Das war ein aufregender Tag! Danach ging's zur Bank, dann essen für 80Nio, (Lamm, Reis mit Bohnen, Salat und Tortilla). Und dann duschen und ab ins Bett, von wo aus ich gerade diese Zeilen  schreibe! Noch nie war ich Ventilatoren so dankbar!! :-) es ist damn hot (22:00Uhr, 34•C).

Und was ich noch sagen wollte...ich erzähle ja ständig von meinen Skype-Sessions! Ich freue mich immer über Anrufe, sagt mir einfach Bescheid, wenn ihr Lust und Zeit habt bzw. Gebt mir ein paar Auswahlmöglichkeiten und dann schaue ich, wie es hier am Besten passt! Ich bin zeitlich 7h zurück im Moment, am liebsten Skype ich morgens gegen 8/9Uhr, bevor ich den ganzen Tag unterwegs bin! :-)

February 17th 2015

*woke up, finished packing, had breakfast and then my host Alex drove me to the bus station.

At 9:35 am the Bus left almost on time, approx. arrival in San Salvador is 3:45pm.

I took the transport Galgos Inter for 120Q (17Us $) and I was the only one in the bus ....: - /

Approximately 1.5 hours later, the bus stopped in the middle of nowhere and we waited for another bus.

The driver explained me the situation in Spanish. we finally arrived at the border in Guatemala at 1pm and we "checked out" and changed the bus. Then we drove a few meters and "checked in" in El Salvador. Unfortunately, there is no stamp in your passport ... because Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua are among the Central America-4. Since there is only once a stamp. :-(

I then changed my last Quetzales in US $. at 5:15pm we arrived in San Salvador. There I took a bus to the arranged meeting place to wait for my couchsurf host Paola!

Regular buses cost US $ 0.20, the smaller faster microbuses cost US $ 0.25.

At 8pm my host Paola was done with work and we went to her house. At 10pm, we all felt tired into bed.

February 18/19th 2015

I went 2 days in a row to the beach in El Tunco. It has black volcanic sand beach, many surfers because of the high waves and almost no people, as it is during the week. :-)

Around noontime, the water always rises higher and you barely have a chance to get a spot on the sand without being swept away. 2h later, the water forms back a little and you'll find a berth again.

I tried the Regional dish "Pupusa". Corn tortillas with beans and cheese. Very delicious.

Somehow currently I might be a bit more sentimental than usual. But it puts me a stab in the heart when I see the poverty here. A really old, frail man ran up and down the beach (at 35 ° - 40 ° C) with a heavy bag (no idea what he wanted to sell). I felt really sorry for him.

He has not even bothered the people. But I can not save the whole world ....

I finished reading my book and created a birthday message made by stones for my boyfriend.

The flow of the waves is really strong. I was just very close to the shore and the waves have dragged me so that I was 3 submerged and did a somersault .... Since I had some fear .... After that, I just went back into the water until my knees were covered: o)
In the evening of February 19th 2015 my travel-bud Sindy arrived in San Salvador and we've been together to Paola. There we are going to stay until early Monday and then go to Nicaragua.

Paola told me that she is pregnant and in early March emigrates to the United States so that she can get her baby there and the baby has US - Nationality. After 1 year, she goes to work with her boyfriend in China. Paola is 22 years young. Unfortunately, she sees no future here in El Salvador for themselves and their baby. Such things, individual insights you get up only if you do couchsurfing or living somehow with the family.

February 20th 2015
Today Sindy and I wanted to go to Suchitoto. In the morning I had a little stomach ache ...Then we started. After 30 min we had to change the bus at the terminal, where I started to vomit the first time :-/ I thought after it gets better and we kept on going ... I was wrong. It got worse. I felt so bad I could not continue to Sochitoto and had to get off the bus before. Sindy came with me.After a second time vomiting it went a little better. But I had such a bad stomach ache, and then the heat. - I almost felt like I get a circulatory collapse. I really need to go to bed. A total of 4 hours traveling until we arrived "home". I've done 3 crosses, when I finally lay in bed (today we had gotten a key from our host Paola) ... and then I opened my "travel-pharmacy" , took some pills and slept in stages up to the next day at 7am.
-> There was  my boyfriend's birthday at february 21st -> we skyped and he was finally able to open his gift I have prepared before I left and my lovely  Mom sent it to him on time! <3 <3 

February 21st 2015

Today I already felt much better! I just didn't want to go too far away. So I stayed in town and Sindy went to Suchitoto! I have visited Santa Tecla "nuevo san Salvador". There were no tourists, only locals! It was chaotic because the market was there! There are many veterans in El Salvador - injured and really striking much poverty!
San Salvador is also not very nice ... it consists of office buildings, restaurants, churches, a few monuments in the roundabout, museums .... not really much to see (for me).

February 22nd 2015 
Today we went to Ataco and Juayu. Our host mom Cecy drove us to the bus terminal at 8am = "Terminal de Occidente" and from there we took a direct bus (2.30 US $, 1: 45min.). Ataco is a very small village, which was very crowded with tourists and locals today (sunday). There were many souvenirs sold (= bags, keychains, purse, etc.). I went up a hill to a cross, from where you had a good view of the city. Then we went to Juayua, a town / village, which is especially known for its food and live music on the weekends! It was also very busy! But at this time almost exclusively locals!It is not very cheap to eat there! besides the dollar and euro is almost the same currency right now :-(You pay for a dinner there 5 US$! A Smoothie $ 1.50, a cup of mixed fruit $ 1.00. Of course it's okay. But think ybout the 30 US$ budget per day (includes transport, food, hostel, entrance fees....).
There isn't a direct bus from Salvador to Juayua. On the way back we have inserted a stop at the amusement park in Ahuachapan. The big wheels ride is very quickly and drove backwards ... I watched the spectacle from the ground and didnt get a ride on it! :-) Then we went with the "local bus" to San Salvador (US $ 1.00, about 2: 20h) on board was a little baby birdie that has been almost always twittering ...:-p

Today we go to Nicaragua!We decided to try it on our own and not taking the expensive coached bus for 50 US$! On the Internet we have a good description found how you go to Nicaragua apparently only about $ 15US and the same time ... about 10h.! (see my othe Blog post crossing the Border)
All who know me well will always smile and shake its head while reading this = when I write about my savings and the attempts .... yes you have to watch where you stay! Swabian through and through !!5:25 am :time to get up, 6: 00am leave the house.Take a Bus (0,20US $) to the bus terminal "Oriente" in San Salvador. about 1h drive from our Casa and the bus was very full. We were crammed with our luggage into the back:-)Other bus ride to Santa Rosa de Lima (US $ 5,  4h.)
What I see on the bus rides again and again that in Central America garbage is a big issue (unfortunately).
All sorts of (plastic) packaging were throw out the window, on the streets, in the forests ... in Guatemala I have increasingly seen people pick up the trash and clean the Streets ... but here in El Salvador I didnt see it yet!And what I also saw ... just another topic ;-)
The women are very well trained in carrying heavy things on her head! Fascinating !! In the Local buses almost in every stop  Sellers entering and trying to sell food, drinks, etc. You wont starved or dying of thirstyness during a bus ride :-)In Santa Rosa de Lima, take a bus directly to the "Frontera El Amatillo" (12: 15-12: 45pm, duration, 30min, 1US $), for example, bus # 330* Check-Out in El Salvador.The bicycle taxis are absolutely unnecessary !! Then you walk to the immigration "Honduras" and must fill out a short form and pay a 3US$ - fee! There is no reason to change money for 2h in the country !! Then you walk to the shuttle, which departs directly next to the office to Guasaule. Our shuttle continued at 1.30pm. (Duration: 2 hours, cost: $ 6US). -> No A / C, apparently 40°C, you should be sure to have enough water with you.
They will again overrun the shuttle in Guasaule to offer you bicycle taxis! After the whole bus ride, it's good to walk. Approximately 10-15 minutes over a bridge, past the trucks to check out in Honduras (with stamp) and then check in in Nicaragua.Here's a 12 US$ fee! : - / You get a tourist card! Just a few hundred meters across the parking lot a truck driver offered to take us to Léon ... I hesitated ... would be a adventure though. ... but I promised my travel companion and my beloved ones at home not to hitchhike ... The bus also drove equal at 4pm going to Léon. (Duration: 2.15 h, cost: 2US $-> still can pay in dollars). Here it is useful to take a taxi 80COR / taxi), about 3-4 km to the city center. After more than 11h we passed through 3 countries:-) We are in the hostel "Kolibri"  (Dorm, 8US $ / person with breakfast), the "Sonati" was fully booked (Dorm: 5-6US $ / person without breakfast).This was an exciting day! we went to the bank, then eat for 80Nio, (lamb, rice and beans, salad and tortilla). And then took a shower and go to bed, from where I'm writing these lines! I never was so grateful to fans !! :-) It's damn hot (10pm and still 34 ° C).

And what I want to say ... I'll tell you constantly of my Skype sessions! I am always looking forward to calls, just let me know if you have the time and inclination or give me a few choices and then I look, how it fits best in here! I am back in time 7h at the moment, I prefer Skype mornings at 8 / 9am before I'm out all day! :-)

Auf eigene Faust von El Salvador nach Nicaragua, via Honduras in 11h

Für alle interessierten Reisenden, hier ist
meine erlebte Grenzüberschreitung von El Salvador nach Nicaragua - via Honduras am 23.02.2015 mit den Local-Bussen für insgesamt 13US$  + 15US$ Einreisegebühr!! 

(statt 50US$ durch organisierte Reisebusse).

* San Salvador: Abfahrt vom Busterminal "Terminal de Oriente"( --> Alameda Juan Pablo II) alle 40 Min. (Ich fuhr um 8:08 Uhr) nach Santa Rosa de Lima. (Dauer: 4h, Kosten: 5 US$).

(Dauer: 2,15 h, Kosten: 2US$ --> noch kann man in Dollar bezahlen). Dort ist es sinnvoll ein Taxi zu nehmen 80Nio/Taxi), ca. 3-4km.

Nach über 11h hat man 3 Länder bereist :-)

For all interested travelers, here's my experienced border-crossing of El Salvador to Nicaragua - via Honduras on February 23rd 2015 with the local buses for a total of $ 13US $ + 13US $ entry fees !!

(Instead of 50US $ for coached busses).

* San Salvador: start from the busterminal "Terminal de Oriente" (-> Alameda Juan Pablo II). Busses run every 40 minutes (mine at 8:08am) to Santa Rosa de Lima.. (Duration: 4 hours, cost: US $ 5).

* There you can take a bus directly to the "Frontera El Amatillo" (12: 15-12: 45pm, duration, 30min, 1US $), for example Bus # 330.

* Check-Out in El Salvador.

The bicycle taxis are absolutely unnecessary !! Then you walk to the immigration "Honduras" and must fill out a short form and pay a 3US $ fee! There is no reason to change money for 2h in the country !! Then you walk to the shuttle next to the office, which runs directly to Guasaule. Our shuttle left at 1: 30 pm  (Duration: 2 hours, cost: $ 6US). -> No A / C, bring enough water with you.

If you arrive Guasaule. People will overrun you by asking for a bicycle taxi! After the whole bus ride, it's good to walk. Approximately 10-15 minutes over a bridge, passing all the trucks to check-out in Honduras (with stamp) and then check in in Nicaragua.

Here's a 12US $ fee ! : - / You get a tourist card! Just walk across the parking lot, behind all the trucks and then a path leads down on the left side where the buses are waiting! I got the same bus at 4pm and was in Léon at 6:15pm. (Duration: 2.15 h, cost: $ 2US -> still can pay in dollars). Here in Léon by night it is useful to take a taxi 80Nio / taxi), about 3-4km.

Hier in San Marcos ist es sehr spirituell!

Ein Mini-Dorf, voll mit "Hippies". Man kann hier Kurse für Yoga, Selbstfindungsphasen, Tantra, Trommeln usw. belegen. Alle laufen hier sehr "einfach" herum. Weite Hosen und Pullis, meist Rastas. Wir passen hier so gar nicht dazu bzw.fallen auf :-) Der See ist von Vulkanen umgeben! Man kann per Boot zu den andern Städten fahren (immer Q25). Die größte, belebteste Stadt ist San Pedro (= Party). Wir verbrachten die 2 Tage hier hauptsächlich mit chillen auf nem Steg direkt am See mit Blick auf den Vulkan. Wir planten unserer Weiterreise bzw. was jeden von uns in El Salvador interessiert! Und erstellten somit die Route. 

Die Sonne ist leider nur von ca 8:00 Uhr bis 13/14:00 Uhr da. Danach zieht es zu, ist kalt und bewölkt! 

In der Nacht hatten wir Gewitter und Regen! Die Dusche liefert wieder nur EISKALTES Wasser :-/ *grrr* wir entschieden uns für 2 Tage Katzenwäsche und "türkische Dusche" :-)

Heute ging es nach dem Frühstück wieder zurück nach Panajachel mit dem Boot (Q25), von dort sollte ein Direktbus nach Quetzaltenango (Xela) fahren. Anscheinend nur 1x/Tag stellte sich heraus und der war schon weg!

Also nahmen wir 3 Busse. Der erste ging nach Solola (Q3, ca. 15Min.), der zweite nach Los Encuentros (Q5, ca. 20-30Min.) und der Dritte nach Xela (Q20, um 11:20Uhr, Dauer ca. 1h45Min.). Der Letzte war der vollste Bus. Man saß wieder zu 3.auf den Sitzen (Die Busse sind in Besitz von Privatleuten/Familien und die Jungs, die nach Passagieren schreien bekommen fast den gesamten Ticketpreis; sie müssen nur eine kleine Summe an den Fahrer abgeben, deshalb werden die Busse überfüllt und fahren Crazy schnell, um den anderen Chiken-Bussen die Passagiere abzufangen). Anfangs war ein Prediger mit an Bord, der für ca. 30 Minuten aus der Bibel vorlas! Ich habe mich vom Stehplatz, über den äußersten, dann zum mittleren und zum Schluss zum Fensterplatz vorgearbeitet :-) und was auffällt, es scheint so, dass "JanSport" ein Abkommen mit Guatemala hat...*lol* Jeder hat hier einen "JanSport" Rucksack!! 

Die Männer hier am Lago Atitlan und in den Western Highlands tragen eine traditionelle Tracht (Vll.erwisch ich mal Einen, den ich unauffällig fotografieren kann).
Wir sind ins Casa Argentina gegangen und haben ein 5-Bett Zimmer für uns alleine. (40Q/Person).
Danach haben wir uns in 4 verschiedene Tour-Offices begeben, um unsere Vulkantour zu finden.
Mein Favorit, die Overnight-Camp-Tour mit Übernachtung in einem inaktiven Krater, nicht weit weg vom aktiven Vulkan, findet leider nicht statt, da min. 2 Personen dabei sein müssen. Und Sindy macht nur eine Halbtages-Tour. Letzlich habe ich eine Tour gefunden, die zum "Muttervulkan" von Santiaguito führt. (=MonteVerde, Q250). Es sind anscheinend 4h Wanderung bergauf und 3h bergab. Man hat einen Ausblick zum aktiven Vulkan Santiaguito und dieser spuckt etwa alle 20-30Min. Ich bin gespannt.
Danach haben wir noch kurz den Park Central America angeschaut, relaxed, ich habe wieder eine gute Tat vollbracht und ein T-Shirt verschenkt. Dann bin ich noch in den Supermarkt und 'zu Hause' habe ich endlich mal wieder mit heißem Wasser geduscht. Abends habe ich Nudeln mit Tomatensoße und Maiskolben gekocht. Lecker.

In der Küche traf ich ein kleines 6-jähriges Mädchen aus Uruguay. Sie hat versucht mir bisschen Spanisch bei zu bringen! Da ich leider kaum Spanisch übe (mit Sindy rede ich ja Deutsch) und sonst reden wir nur im Hostel, Bus, um nach dem Weg zu fragen usw. Spanisch! Unsere couchsurfer reden (leider) meist Englisch! :-/
Das war's dann auch schon für den Tag. Es ist ziemlich kalt hier. Max. 18°C. Bei Nacht nur 2 - 5°C.

Zwischen 2 Uhr und 5 Uhr war es so laut auf der Straße, dass ich nicht schlafen konnte. Also nutzte ich meine Wachphase und weckte Marci in Deutschland auf um ne Runde zu Skypen! :-)

(Freitag, den) 13.2.15

Heute ging Sindy auf einen Markt außerhalb der Stadt! Ich hab meine Vulkan Tour gebucht, bin dann auf einen Markt in der Stadt gegangen und las mein Buch im Park.

Anschließend bin ich "nach Hause" und später habe ich noch einen Stop auf einem Friedhof eingelegt! (Dort ist ein Monument/Grab von Vanuschka =Die Geschichte ist wie folgt:In den 1920er Jahren kam eine osteuropäische Roma-Familie nach Guatemala und tourte durch die Landschaft mit einem Zirkus. Wie bei Romeo und Julia, verliebte sich Vanushka bei einem ihrer Auftritte in einen Herrn im Publikum. Der junge Herr, Javier, war aus einer prominenten Familie in der Gegend und verfolgte gespannt Vanushka's Auftritt. Nach der Show liefen Javier und Vanushka die ganze Nacht durch das Zirkusgelände und redeten. Das ging so für den Rest der Woche und am Ende, gestanden sie ihre unsterbliche Liebe für einander. Es war kein Geheimnis im Zirkus. Wie hätte man zwei junge verliebte "Vögel", die Hand in Hand übers Zirkusgelände laufen, übersehen können?Javier's Familie merkte schnell, was los war. Javier weigerte sich Vanushka zu verlassen. Sie waren verliebt und er war entschlossen bei ihr zu bleiben. In einem Wutanfall, schickte ihn sein Vater nach Spanien um dort für 4 Jahre an die Universität zu gehen. Mit wenig Freude folgte Javier seinem Vater. Am Morgen seiner Abreise kam Vanushka zum Abschied und musste aus seinen Armen gerissen werden, so fest hielt sie ihn. Er schaute aus dem Fenster und dachte, wie die nächsten 4 Jahre die schwersten seines Lebens sein werden. Er konnte es kaum erwarten, Vanushka in seinen Armen zu halten. Im Laufe der nächsten Wochen verweigerte Vanushka zu schlafen oder zu essen. Eines Nachts, mit einer letzten Träne, schlief sie schweigend ein, aufgrund ihres gebrochenen Herzen.Ihre Familie begrub sie im El Calvario Friedhof, wo ihr Grab heute gefunden werden kann. Die Legende besagt, dass viele Jahre später eine Frau in einer ähnlichen Situation zum Grab von Vanushka kam, um zu weinen und ihr ihren Kummer zu beichtenn. Kurz nach ihrer "Rede" mit Vanushka, wurde sie wieder mit ihrer einzigen wahren Liebe vereint. Es wird gesagt, dass, wenn man Blumen und eine Nachricht am Grab von Vanushka hinterlässt, wird  man mit der Liebe seines Lebens vereint. Es gibt Hunderte von Nachrichten, die über das ganze Grab geschrieben wurden (in mehreren Sprachen). *sweet* *romantisch*
Vor dem Friedhof wurde ein Jahrmarkt  aufgebaut mit richtig uralten Fahrgeschäften (hoffentlich halten die alle Stand).  Dann ging's zum Abendessen !

Ich hatte Fisch mit Gemüse, Salat, Reis und Tortillas + Getränk (Horchata de arroz) für Q25. Dann haben wir schon für morgen ausgecheckt und alles gepackt für den Vulkan und die Weiterreise.

Samstag, 14.02.15 (Valentinstag)  <3 <3 <3

Um 4 Uhr klingelte der Wecker, um 5 uhr wurden wir abgeholt. Und um 5:30 Uhr sind wir bei + 2•C losgelaufen! Sindy hatte einen Privat Guide zum santiaguito mirador (1,5-2 h Wanderung) und ich bin mit meinem Guide und noch 2 Leuten (Patrick, 28 Jahre aus Texas und Arno, ca 50 Jahre aus der Bretagne) gelaufen. Wir liefen ca 3:20 h auf den Vulkan Santa Maria. Ich kam mehr als an meine Grenzen, nach ca. 30 Min. mäßigem Anstieg ging es nur noch steil bergauf, kein einziges flaches Stück! Oft musste man noch über Felsen und Bäume klettern. Ich war fix und fertig! Patrick wurde Höhenkrank und übergab sich am Gipfel einige Male! :-/ wir sind bei ca. 2200 Meter gestartet und erreichten eine Höhe von ca. 3790 Metern.  Wir blieben dort ca. 2h und beobachteten einige Erruptionen vom Santiaguito. Auf dem Weg nach "oben" begegneten uns auch ein paar Guatemaler mit Sack und Pack und Blumen. sie gingen aus Glaubensgründen auf den Gipfel und  beteten dort. Das war eine wahnsinnige Atmosphäre! 

Der Abstieg dauerte leider fast genau solang wie der Aufstieg! Weil Patrick oft pausieren musste und Arno mit seinen Knien Probleme hatte, er war zumindest schlau genug und hatte Wander-Stöcke dabei! Um 14 Uhr war ich im Casa. Dort habe ich noch super schnell geduscht, lief dann zu den Mikrobussen um zum Busterminal außerhalb des Stadtzentrums zu kommen und war dann um 15:35 Uhr am Busterminal. Ich musste dort noch einen riesigen Markt durchqueren und hab den vorletzten "Chiken-Bus" nach Guate bekommen. (Q 35). Auf dem Weg verschenkte ich mein 2tes Top an ein Mädchen! Ich muss "Ballast" loswerden. :-)

Und dann ging's auf nach Guate. Sindy war schon um 10 Uhr wieder zurück und fuhr gleich nach Antigua und morgen geht es für sie nach Monterrico ans Meer! 

Wir treffen uns wieder in El Salvador!

Ich hab bei der Ankunft in Guate noch 2 Metro Busse nehmen müssen und bin dann zum vereinbarten Treffpunkt gelaufen, um meinen Host Alexander zu treffen.

Mit mir sind noch 2 Österreicherinnen zum couchsurfen da. Wir sind alle zusammen in Supermarkt, haben abends zusammen gesessen, bisschen geredet und dann fiel ich gegen Mitternacht todmüde ins Bett!

14.02.15

Die Nacht war "schrecklich" von 3-3:30 Uhr lag ich wach, weil es trotz Schlafsack + Seiden-Inlay und langer Kleidung bitterkalt war. 

Heute Morgen war ich als erste wach, habe wieder einmal heiß duschen dürfen, meine Handtücher und das Rucksack-Raincover gewaschen und dann mein Fotobuch aktualisiert! Als die Mädels und Alex wach waren, haben wir Frühstück gemacht und sind dann zusammen in die Stadt. Ich muss noch erwähnen, dass Alex eine Hündin (=Dobermann) hat. Sie heißt: Mia. Ich bin ja kein so großer Hundefan und Mia kommt einem gerne seeeehr nah :-) kaum aus dem Parkhaus gekommen, fragte eine alte Frau nach Geld! Ich spendete meine alte Hose! Wieder eine gute Tat :-)

Am Plaza Obelisco war eine Kampagne "Guatemala kämpft gegen die Armut an" und jeder bekam ein T-Shirt geschenkt, das er anziehen musste und dann wurde ein Bild gemacht. Selbst manche Hunde bekamen eines angezogen! Danach sind die 2 Österreicherinnen mit irgendwelchen Jungs, die sie kennenlernten zum "Longboard"- fahren gegangen und ich ging mit Alex, seinem Freund Alejandro und den 2 Hunden spazieren. Sonntags wird immer eine Straße komplett gesperrt, damit Familien mit Kindern und Hunden spazieren, Skateboard-, Fahrradfahren oder joggen gehen können. Ich habe mir dann eine Piña (Ananas) gekauft, die mit dem ausgehöhlten Fruchtfleisch, Wasser, Limone und Kräutern gefüllt wurde. Das war super lecker und erfrischend! (Q15).

Mia wurde nach Hause gebracht und dann sind wir nach 

Downtown gefahren um dort Lunch zu essen. Ich hatte einen Salat mit Pute. Auf der Haupt-Fußgängerzone (7a Av.) war es voll mit Tänzern, Sängern und anderen Alleinunterhaltern und Shows.

Später ging es mit Alex' Freundin Diana in eine Bar ("Rattle & Hum") und wir Gönnten uns ein Bier. Ich probierte das Nationalbier "Gallon".

Danach ging es nach Hause. Plötzlich hielt uns die Polizei an. Kontrolle! Sie suchten nach Waffen. Sie suchten einen SUV aus dem Schüsse gefallen sind. Und mein Host fährt einen SUV... Aufregend! Aber nach 5 Min. Konnten wir weiterfahren. Die Österreicherinnen waren immer noch unterwegs und meldeten sich endlich mal gegen 23Uhr, um nach der Adresse zu fragen, damit sie mit dem Taxi heimfahren können. 

Alex war etwas enttäuscht und bis die Mädels gegen Mitternacht eintrudelten unterhielten wir uns über das Konzept couchsurfen! Cs soll ein kultureller Austausch sein und die hosts sollen einem Land und Kultur zeigen und im besten Falle Zeit mit den Surfern verbringen. Verständlicherweise fühlte sich Alex von den 2 etwas ausgenutzt. Schließlich ist sein Haus kein Hostel oder Hotel, wo man kommen und gehen kann, wie es einem beliebt! Man sollte gewisse Regeln befolgen. Alex wollte gegen 22 Uhr schon im Bett sein, weil er am nächsten Tag arbeiten musste und jetzt wartete er 2h auf die Mädels und hat sich natürlich auch Sorgen gemacht! Denn eigentlich wollten wir alle zusammen Schnitzel kochen gegen 19Uhr.  

Um Mitternacht bin ich dann auch uns Bett. Ich hab noch extra Decken bekommen und hatte eine "wärmere" Nacht.

16.02.15 

Um 6:45 Uhr klingelte der Wecker und um 8 Uhr mussten wir 4 das Haus verlassen. Alex fuhr die Mädels zum Bus und ich bin von dort aus 2h in die Stadt gelaufen - vorbei an sämtlichen Sehenswürdigkeiten und Denkmälern. In der Stadt bin ich auf einen Markt und hab endlich einen Magneten gefunden, der einigermaßen "schön" ist (ich sammle aus den von mir bereisten Ländern Magneten) und eine Tasche habe ich gefunden! Mehr gibt's nicht, weil ich ja eh zu viel Gepäck habe!

Dann war es auch schon 2 Uhr und ich habe mir eine Pizza gegönnt (Caliente y listo, Q 40). Nach der Hälfte hab ich aufgegeben. Dann bin ich mit der Metro zu einem Plaza, habe auf einer Bank die Sonne genossen, mein Buch gelesen und hier den Blogeintrag aktualisiert! 

Um 18 Uhr treffe ich wieder meinen Host und wir fahren dann an Flughäfen und holen eine neue couchsurferin ab, die aus Japan angereist kommt, aber Australierin ist. Direkt zu Alex (meinem Host) fahren keine öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel - die letzten ca 3km müsste man laufen. Und er wohnt in einer bewachten Wohngegend, in der man als Besucher registriert sein muss!  

Beruhigend! :-)

Entgegen aller Warnungen, fühlte ich mich heute (als ich bei Tageslicht alleine in die Stadt lief nie unsicher oder in Gefahr). Ist halt wie in jeder Grossstadt...man muss gewisse Regeln befolgen, nicht leichtsinnig und immer achtsam sein!

Ich finde Guate echt sehenswert und könnte auch noch ein paar Tage länger bleiben!

Zeit um Guatemala auf Wiederseheb zu sagen und El Salvador Hallo!! Heute geht's mit dem Bus nach San Salvador, El Salvador in die Hitze! Dort habe ich ein Mädchen gefunden, bei der ich 5 Tage couchsurfen darf. Bin mal gespannt auf El Salvador!

Ich muss hier auch mal sagen wie unglaublich dankbar ich zu aller erst meiner Familie, Freund und Freunden bin, dass sie mich immer unterstützt und bestärkt haben in meinem Vorhaben! Dann natürlich meinen lieben KollegInnen und Arbeitgeber, die es ermöglicht haben, dass ich 1 Jahr freigestellt werde! 

Es sind unvergessliche, einmalige, einzigartige Ereignisse, die ich hier erleben darf. Ich wünschte ihr könntet meine Erlebnisse und einzigartige Momente hier durch meine Augen sehen!! Text und Bilder verdeutlichen es nie so und bringen es einem nicht so nah. Alle sollten die Möglichkeit nutzen so viel und oft zu reisen um die Menschen und deren Kultur kennen und respektieren zu lernen!!

Und glaubt mir, dazu braucht man nicht viel Geld!! Man muss sich mit den einfachen Dingen des Lebens zufrieden geben, dann schätzt man auch wieder den Luxus, den wir in Deutschland haben!! :-)

February 10th-12th 2015

San Marcos is a very spiritual place! A very small village, filled with "hippies". You can take yoga classes, Self-discovery classes, Tantra classes, drum classes and so on. The lake is surrounded by volcanos! You can go by boat to the little villages around. It cost you always Q25. The biggest, crowded village is "San Pedro". Here you can have party! We spent the 2 nights in San Marcos  with relaxation at the lake with a nice view to the volcanos!we also checked out the further travel plans for El Salvador! Unfortunately the sun was only shining between 8:00am - 1:00/2pm. Once the sun was gone it got cold. By night it started to rain and we had a thunderstorm! The shower again only had ICEcold water. I just did a fast and not very careful cleaning for 2 days! 

February 12th 2015

Today after we had breakfast we headed back to Panajachel and there was supposed to be a nonstop bus to Quetzaltenango (Xela). But it already left and leaves only once a day! We had to take 3 different busses then to get there! The first one to Solola (Q3, ca. 15 Min.), the second one to Los Encuentros (Q5, ca. 20-30 Min.) and the last bus to Xela (Q20 at 11:20 am and took us 1:45 hours) the last one was the most crowded one! Instead of 2 people, there were always 3 people in a row. (It's because the boys who yell for people get almost all of the fare, only a little amount has to be paid to the driver who is the owner of the bus --> chiken busses are kind of private owned business). At the beginning I stood in the aisle, then I got a seat in the middle of 2 persons and at the end I sat at the window! There was a priest onboard, he read phrases from the bible for maybe 30min. 

And what I have to mention... Almost everybody in Guatemala has a "JanSport" backpack - I don't know why this brand is so famous here! *lol*

Once in Xela we've gone in "Casa Argentina" and had a private 5-bed room just for us with shared bathroom for Q40/Person. There are also located the Quetzaltrekkers= Volunteers offer tours to volcanoes and different destinations and the money get donated to schools! Unfortunately they hadn't the tour we wanted. Then we went downtown in different travel agencies and asked for volcano tours for tomorrow or Saturday!

My favorite was a overnight camp in an inactive volcano next to an active one! But you have to be at least 2 persons! And sindy only wanna do a half day tour to an overlook point. 

I decided to take the volcano tour to Santa Maria = it is the "mother volcano" of the active Volcano called Santiaguito.(=I booked it at MonteVerde tour office for Q250). They say it's an exhausting 4 hour hike to get to the summit! It's hard and you have to be well trained... You'll have an incredible view to Santiaguito and its erruptions!  I'm excited! 

Afterwards we hang out at the "Parque Central America" and enjoyed the sun! Again lots of people were around and begging for money- I donated a "old" t-shirt of mine! After I headed to the supermarket and got some stuff for dinner and then finally I was able to shower with HOT water! I cooked pasta with tomatosauce and corn! In the kitchen I met a 6 year old girl from Uruguay! She tried to teach me Spanish! Very cute of her! Unfortunately I still don't speak enough Spanish to have good conversations! With sindy I speak German and at the hostels or also with couch surfers we speak English! So I can't really practice lot of Spanish! Only in the local busses and non touristic places I'm able to practice! At least I understand more and more and can ask and say the basics! That's all I did for today! It is really cold. During the days about 18•C and nighttime only 2-5•C.

Between 2 am and 5 am there were some people on the streets being talking, laughing and listening to music very loud - so I couldn't sleep! :-/  I decided to try to do a Skype conversation with my boyfriend and see what's going on in Germany!

Today Sindy went to a local market out of town! Ive stayed in town and visited there a market and read my book and tried to have a relaxed day! After I went back "home" I visited in the late afternoon a cemetery! There's a grave/monument, it called Vanushka =The history is as follows:
In the 1920s an Eastern European gypsy family immigrated to Guatemala and toured the countryside in the family circus. In true Romeo and Juliet fashion, Vanushka became enamoured with a gentleman in the audience during one of her performances. The young gentleman, Javier, was from a prominent family in the area and followed suit with Vanushka and her beautiful performance.
After the show Javier caught up with Vanushka and they spent the night talking and walking around the circus grounds. This continued for the rest of the week and by the end, they confessed their undying love for each other. It was no secret on the circus grounds that this was happening. How could you miss two young love birds walking hand in hand all night long?
Javier’s family quickly caught on to what was going on. Javier refused to leave Vanushka’s side. They were in love and he was determined to see it through. In a rage, his father sent him to Spain to finish 4 years of university. With little authority, Javier had to leave.
When wishing Vanushka farewell the morning of his departure, she had to be ripped from his arms as his chaparone refused to let him stay any longer. He looked out the window and thought how the next 4 years of his life were going to be difficult ones. He could not wait to return to Vanushka’s arms.
Over the next few weeks Vanushka wasted away. She refused to sleep or eat. One night, with one last tear, she silently passed away from a broken heart.
Her family buried her in the El Calvario Cemetery where her tomb can be found today.
Legend has it that many years later a woman in a similar situation came to Vanushka’s tomb to weep and vent her sorrow. Shortly after her “talk” with Vanushka she was reunited with her one true love. It is said that if you leave flowers and a message of your sorrow for Vanushka that she will reunite you with the love in your life.
There are hundreds of messages written all over her tomb (in multiple languages) and with each one you can feel a pang of sorrow). In front they started to build a carnival with really old stuff...I don't know about the security from the carousels and so on...then Sindy and I moved downtown again for dinner! I ordered a combo of fish with vegetables, salad, rice and tortillas. You also got a drink with it

(Horchata de arroz) for Q25. Back in the casa we checked out, and got our backpacks ready for the volcano and the continuing trip! 

Saturday, February 14th (Valentine's Day) 

At 4 am rings the alarm clock! At 5 am we got picked up and at 5:30am we started the climb - it's been + 2•C. 

Sindy had a private guide to the lookout to santiaguito! Approx. 1,5-2 h hike) and I was in a team of 2 more hikers (Patrick, 28 yo from Texas and Arno, ca 50 yo from the Bretagne, France) and of course our guide. We were quite fast! We climbed to the summit of Santa maria in like 3:20 h. It was a really tough hike! More than once I scratched my limits! After the first 30 Min. with just a nice increase it turned out to be no flat road anymore, only steep ways uphill! Sometimes you had to climb above big rocks or wood piles! I was exhausted once I reached the summit! Patrick got sick because the hight and vomited a few times. We started at 2200meter and finished at around 3790meter. We rested for about 2 hours and had a great view to the eruptions of santiaguito! 

On the way to the summit we met a few Guatemalans they climbed the volcano with their backpacks and flowers for religious reasons and were praying for hours!!

It was a breathtaking atmosphere.

Unfortunately the way down took us almost as long as the way up! Patrick needed a lot of breaks and Arno has problems with his knees (at least he's smart enough to use hiking-sticks)

Around 2pm I'm back in the hostel, I went for a fast shower, then walked to the Microbus which drove to the main bus terminal and there I had to cross a big market and was able to catch the second last bus to Guatemala City (Guate) (Q 35). 

On the way through the market I donated my second shirt to a little girl! I need to get rid of old clothes and too much weight in my backpack :-) 

Sindy was already back from her hike at 10am and headed toward Antigua, the next day she's going at the beach to Monterrico! We're meeting up in San Salvador again! 

In Guate I had to take 2 busses to reach the meeting point. I asked a young couple for directions and they helped me. And because I'm alone they walked with me to the Metro Bus station. The guy said, don't walk alone as a girl here - very cute of them! Once I've got out of the metro I had to walk a few blocks and met my host Alexander! With me there are 2 more girls at his house from Austria. ( he has a huge nice 2 level house) and a dog (Doberman, called Mia).

On the way we stopped at a supermarket and then hang out a bit at his place. I've been to bed around midnight! 

February, 15th 2015

The night wasn't very good! Between 3:00 to 6:30am I was awake because it was so cold. I had my sleeping back with an additional inlay and then I put on long pants and a long shirt and socks - but it didn't help much!  Around 7:30am I got up and took a hot shower, washed my towels and the rain cover from my big backpack! I always use it in the busses to protect the backpack from dirt. After I updated my photo book. Then Alex and the girls got up and we had breakfast together! 

Then we headed into the city with Mia. We just stepped out of the parking garage. There was once again a begging woman - I donated my old pants! She was happy! 

At the "Plaza Obelisco" took a campaign place which fights against poorness in Guatemala! Everybody was asked to wear a t-shirt and then they took a picture! Some dogs wore the t-shirts! After the 2 Austrian girls met some guys for a trip through the city in the longboard! And I hang out with Alex, his friend Alejandro and their dogs! There's a street which is closed every Sunday - so the families can stroll around with their children, dogs, skateboarding, cycling, running... I bought a whole Pineapple, filled with the mix of mashed pineapple, water, lemon and herbs! It was very refreshing! (Q15).

Then we brang Mia back home and drive downtown for lunch! There's a Main Street (7a Av.) where are tons of people showing their skills (dancing, singing, acting,...) 'twas fun to watch!  

After I went with Alex and his friend Diana in a pub! (Rattle & Hum) and we grabbed a beer! After we went home! On our drive we got all the sudden stopped by the police! They're searching an SUV, because somebody fired with a weapon from a SUV. My Host drives a SUV :-) 

But we're fine! After 5 minutes they let us go and were very polite!  

The girls from Austria were still out, they finally called at 11pm and asked for the address, so the Taxi can give them a ride home! 

Alex and I talked about the meaning and project of Couchsurfing! It's supposed to be a cultural exchange and the hosts should show their surfers their country and culture and in best case spending time with them!

Understandable that Alex felt "ausgenutzt". They used his place more like a hotel and wanted to come and go whenever they like to! You need to follow a few rules if you're attending this project! Alex should have go to bed around 10pm because he needs to work the next day and now he has to wait 2h for the returning girls! Of course he also got worried! Originally we wanna meet up for dinner! Finally I've been to bed around midnight! This night I got extra blankets and had warmer night! 

February 16th 2015 

At 6:45 am the alarm clock rang!

We had to leave the house at 8 am.

Alex brang the girls to their bus and I walked a nice street to downtown for about 2hours. Along the street I found many sights and monuments! in the city I've visited a big market and finally got a souvenir. I'm collecting magnets from each country I've visited. Then it's been already 2pm and I bought a pizza (@ caliente y listo, Q40). I gave up after half of it and safes the other half for tomorrow! Then I took the metro to a Plaza, enjoyed the sun and read my book. And I'm actualizing my Blog' :-)

At 6pm I'm meeting my host and then we go and pick up a Australian girl = Beth. Directly to Alex place is no public transportation! You need to walk the last 3km. He lives in s secured area, and as a visitor you need to register yourself!

Against all warnings, I really felt safe today in Guate. (As I walked during daylight in the city I've never felt unsafe or in danger). It's like in every big city, you have to be aware and following rules! I really enjoyed the city and could stay 1-2 more days!

Today it's time to say goodbye to Guatemala and Hello to El Salvador! I drive with the Bus to San Salvador. There I found a girl I can couch surf for the next 5 days! I'm excited and looking forward being in the heat :-)

And I have to tell how incredibly grateful I am for my family, boyfriend and friends, because they encouraged and supported me all the time in preparing and doing this trip! 

And also I have to thank my colleagues and boss that I got 1 year of unpaid vacation! I have unforgettable, unique moments. I wished you could see it through my eyes! Pictures and writings never gives you the experience so close as I'm feeling and experience it! 

All of you should take the possibility to travel as much and often as you can. So you can get to know and respect the people and their culture all over the world. Believe me- for this you don't need much money! As long you're trying to be happy and comfortable with the simpleness in life - after you know how "rich and luxury" we are living in Germany!
