Eine Lehrreiche Fahrt nach Panama! :-)
Ich habe mich um 9:30 Uhr zum Bus aufgemacht. 3km Fußmarsch lagen vor mir...aber nach nur 10 Minuten hielt ein Minivan an und gab mir einen "Ride". Wie sich herausstellte, lebt der Mann seit 18 Jahren in verschiedenen Ländern in Zentral- und südamerika und kommt ursprünglich aus dem Allgäu!
An der Bushaltestelle hatte ich dann über 1h Zeit, um auf den Bus zu warten, der zu meiner Überraschung extrem pünktlich ankam! (11:30 Uhr war Abfahrt, das Ticket kaufte ich 2 Tage zuvor für 11340 Colones). Dort hatte ich bis zur Grenze einen Amerikaner neben mir, der sich mir vorstellte und mir nach und nach seine Lebensgeschichte offenbarte. Er lebt seit 18 Monaten in Costa Rica. Wie er selbst über sich sagte, war er ein sehr wütender, unzufriedener Mann und arbeitete sich kaputt, hatte seine Kinder (jetzt 22 und 25 Jahre) so gut wie nie gesehen und seine Ehe zerbrach daran.
Also entschloss er sich, zu kündigen, alles zu verkaufen und ein neues Leben anzufangen. Er behauptet, dass er jetzt ein vollkommen anderer Mensch ist und glücklich mit sich selbst! Es war ein sehr interessantes Gespräch! Und er hat recht, wenn man glücklich ist und sich liebt, dann kann man auch andere Menschen glücklich machen und lieben!
An der Grenze in "Paso Canoas" angekommen, bezahlte man an dem Bankschalter 7 US$, dann bekam man einen Exit-Stempel und war wieder einmal im Nirgendwo. Ein paar Meter weiter, bezahlte man 1 US$ und musste ein Rückflugticket oder ähnliches vorweisen, um nach Panama einreisen zu dürfen! Das Gepäck sollte kontrolliert werden, als ich an der Reihe war, meinte er nur, dass ich den Rucksack wieder Schließen kann und gehen darf! Na toll... Ganz umsonst alles zur Inspektion vorbereitet!
Dann ging es wieder in den Bus, dieser fuhr durch eine "Waschanlage" und wurde desinfiziert! Um 17 Uhr Ortszeit (+1h) waren wir in David und ich kaufte gleich das Ticket nach Panama City! (15,25 US$). Abfahrt wieder pünktlich um 18:45 Uhr.
Meine Nebensitzerin war eine super nette junge Frau, die ihre 3 Jährige Tochter Lea dabei hatte. Ihr 7 jähriger Sohn Kendrick blieb zu Hause bei den Großeltern in Bocas del Toro. Sie besucht ihren Mann, der immer 15 Tage in Panama (am Kanal) Arbeitet. Am Anfang beteten Lea und ihre Mama, dass wir eine sichere Fahrt haben! Wir führten etwas Smalltalk und später fing die Frau an, Lea neben mir zu stillen. Wow, das war Wunderbar. Wir sprachen darüber, dass ich Hebamme bin und sie erzählte nur, dass es hier normal ist, dass man die Kinder meist bis 3 Jahre stillt und mit 1 Jahr benötigten ihre Kinder keine Windeln mehr! Beeindruckend! Ich denke, dass der Grund recht einfach ist: Es ist günstiger zu stillen und keine Windeln kaufen zu müssen! :-) eben eine ganz andere Kultur!
8 Stunden Busfahrt in einem mit Klimaanlage betriebenen Bus liegen vor uns! .... Es war bitterkalt und um 2:45 Uhr kam ich am Albrook Terminal in Panama City an!! Dann hieß es abwarten bis Tageslicht ist und ab zum Hotel! *mit der Hoffnung auf einen frühen Check in und endlich einer warmen Dusche*

An Educational Trip to Panama! :-)
I started my way to the bus at 9:30am. It's an 3km walk... but after 10 minutes a mini-Van stopped by and gave me a "Ride". As it turned out, the man has lived for 18 years in several countries in Central and South America and is originally from Bavaria!
At the bus stop I waited about 1 hour of for the bus that arrived extremely promptly to my surprise! (11:30 am was the departing time, the ticket for it I bought two days ago for 11340 colones). In the bus was an American sitting next to me, introduced himself promptly and told me his life story. He lives in Costa Rica for 18 months. As he said of himself that he was a very angry, unhappy man and hard working, he barely seen his children (now 22 and 25 years) and his marriage broke.
So he decided to quit his job and to sell everything and start a new life. He claims that he is now happy with himself and a completely different person! It was a very interesting conversation! And he's right, if you are happy and in love with yourself, then you can make other people happy and you'll be able to love.
We arrived at the border "Paso Canoas," you paid at the bank counter US $ 7, then you got an exit stamp and I was once again in the middle of nowhere. A few meters away, I paid US $ 1 and had to show a return ticket to enter Panama! The luggage has to be checked - when it became my turn, the guy just said that I can go. Oh great ... I just unzipped and prepared everything for the inspection!
Then I got back on the bus and he drove through a "car wash street" to be disinfected! By 5pm local time (+ 1h) we were in David and I immediately bought a ticket to Panama City! (US $ 15.25). Departure time is at 6:45 pm.
Next to me was a super nice young woman who had her 3 year old daughter Lea there. Her 7 year old son Kendrick stayed at home with his grandparents in Bocas del Toro. She visits her husband, who always works 15 days at the Panama Canal. At the beginning Lea and her mum prayed for a safe trip! We performed some small talk and later the woman began to nurse Lea next to me. Wow, that was wonderful. We talked about the fact that I am a midwife and she told only that it is normal here, to get the kids mostly breastfeeding up to 3 years and with 1 year their children needed no more diapers! Impressive! I think the reason is quite simple: It is easier, practical and cheaper to breastfeed and to not have to buy diapers! :-) Just a very different culture!
8 hours bus ride in an air conditioned bus! .... It was bitterly cold and at 2:45 am I arrived to Panama City at the Albrook Terminal. Then I waited until daylight and will go to the hotel! * With the hope of an early check in and finally a warm shower *
