Um 19:45 Uhr saßen wir im Bus nach Arequipa. Morgens um ~6:30 Uhr kamen wir an und kauften uns gleich ein weiteres Ticket nach Cabanaconde für 14 Uhr. Die Zeit verbrachten wir damit uns die Stadt anzugucken und mittag zu essen! Dann ging es 5,5h nach Cabanaconde. Kurzzeitig wurden wir während der Fahrt etwas kurzatmig - kein Wunder...denn wir passierten 4950 Höhenmeter! Die Fahrt war zeitweise etwas beängstigend. Wir saßen rechts und konnten in die Tiefen des Canyons blicken. Die serpentinenartigen Straßen waren eng und ungeteert/schotterig/felsig --> es eine abenteuerliche Fahrt!
In Cabanaconde angekommen, wurden wir von einem Mitarbeiter des von uns gebuchten Hostels "Pachamama" vom Bus abgeholt. Dort haben wir noch für den nächsten Tag eine Tour gebucht um Kondore beobachten zu können mit anschließendem Downhill biking! Eigentlich sollte man 25 US$ (70 Sol) Eintritt bezahlen. Wir kamen aber nie an einen "Checkpoint", somit haben wir uns das Geld sparen können. Wir haben uns dann beim biken etwas verfahren...unser Hostel-Papa hat erzählt, dass man einen Feldweg nehmen kann, durch eine unberührte, schöne Landschaft. Nach 2h ohne Wasser durch staubige, steinige Wege, kamen wir wohlbehalten am Hostel an! Wir ruhten uns erstmal 2h aus, haben etwas gegessen und sind dann am Nachmittag 1,5h auf einen Berg mit wunderschöner Aussicht auf die Landschaft um Cabanaconde gewandert und sahen die schneebedeckten Berge, Tiere und Menschen bei ihrer Feldarbeit! Da wir die Abkürzung genommen haben, liefen wir quer durch die Felder und Berge und erlebten ein wahres Abenteuer beim Abstieg (es war nicht immer ganz klar, wo wir langgehen können). Völlig verstaubt und verschwitzt kamen wir nach insgesamt 3h wieder im Hostel an.
Abends haben wir erstmal geduscht, packten unseren Rucksack zusammen und gingen bald ins Bett!
Eigentlich können wir ausschlafen, aber gegen 5 Uhr war die Nacht - dank den "Bremer Stadtmusikanten" zu Ende.
(Wir wurden von den benachbarten Eseln, Hühnern, Hunden und Katzen unterhalten). Ich vertrieb mir die Zeit damit, dass ich mein Fotobuch aktualisierte und dann gingen wir Frühstücken! Um 9:30 Uhr kam pünktlich der Bus und wir fuhren nach Chivay. Auf dem Weg stoppten wir an einem Aussichtspunkt über dem Colca Canyon, in einem Dorf namens Maca und bei den heißen Quellen (15 Sol Eintritt - wir haben uns das gespart und haben uns am benachbarten Fluss gesonnt). In Chivay hatten wir 15 Min., bis der nächste Bus nach Puno kam. Gerade genug Zeit um uns etwas zum Essen zu holen und die Toilette aufzusuchen. Dann ging es los und wir stoppten an 3 Aussichtspunkten. Der erste war "Patapampa" auf 4950 Höhenmeter = der höchste Punkt auf der Fahrt zwischen Cabanaconde und Puno.
Der Bus wollte beinahe ohne mich losfahren. Ich war so beschäftigt mit Bilder machen. Denn schon wieder sah man einen Vulkan eruptieren. Ich rannte dem Bus hinterher und Ines (die schon im Bus war) schrie dem Fahrer "Stopp". Ging nochmal alles gut. Sonst wäre ich auf fast 5000 Hm festgefroren! :-/
Der zweite Aussichtspunkt war die Fahrt durch "Pampa Cañahuas (Teil des NP Aguada Blanca) mit einer kurzen Snackpause.
Dann ging es weiter nach "Lagunillas" = ein See auf 4174 Hm mit Flamingos.
Gegen 19:30 Uhr kamen wir in Puno (Titicaca See) an und suchten uns eine Unterkunft am Busterminal. Für 20 Sol/Person mit heißen Wasser, und starkem Wifi. Wir recherchierten den Abend über die nächsten Unterkünfte und Busverbindungen, denn das Internet soll immer schwächer werden!
Am nächsten Tag ging es um 7:30 Uhr weiter nach Copacabana, Bolivien!

At 7:45 pm we sat on the bus to Arequipa. And at ~ 6: 30 am we arrived, we bought right away another ticket to Cabanaconde at 2pm. We used the time for sightseeing in Arequipa and having lunch! Then it was a 5.5 hour drive on gravel-, tight roads to Cabanaconde. Sometimes little scary - because the canyons are steep and the roads not the best.
Once we were a little short of breath while driving - no wonder ... because we passed 4950 meters in altitude! Once in Cabanaconde, we were picked up by an employee of the booked hostel "Pachamama". There we were able to book a tour for the next day to watch condors and after went for downhill biking! Actually, you should pay 25 US $ (70 Sol) entrance fee. But we never came to a "checkpoint", thus we can save us money. While biking we got a bit lost... Our hostel Papa told me that you can take a dirt road through a pristine, beautiful scenery. After 2 hours without water through dusty, rocky roads, we arrived safely at the hostel! We rested first 2h, ate something and then in the afternoon we went for a 1.5h hike to a mountain with beautiful views of the countryside of Cabanaconde and saw the snow-capped mountains, animals and people in their field working. Since we have taken the shortcut, we ran across the fields and mountains and experienced a real adventure on the way down (it was not always clear where we can go along). Completely dusty and sweaty, we came to a total of 3 hours back to the hostel.
In the evening we first showered, packed up our backpack and went to bed soon!
Actually, we could sleep in, but around 5 am the night has been finished - thanks to the "Bremen Town Musicians".
(We were entertained by the neighboring donkeys, chickens, dogs and cats). I used the time with updating my photo book and then we went for breakfast! At 9:30 am the Bus to Puno just arrived on time and we drove first to Chivay. On the way we stopped at a lookout over the Colca Canyon, in a village called Maca and in the hot springs (15 Sol entry - we saved it and relaxed in the neighboring river). In Chivay we had 15 min., Until the next bus departs to Puno. Just enough time to pick up something to eat and go to the toilet. Then we went off and we stopped at 3 viewpoints. The first was "Patapampa" on 4950 meters of altitude = the highest point on the journey between Cabanaconde and Puno.
The bus almost drove off without me. I was so busy with taking pictures. Again you could see a volcano erupting. I ran behind the bus and Ines (who was already on the bus) shouted to the driver "stop". Everything was fine. Otherwise I would frozen to nearly 5,000 m! : - /
The second viewpoint was the drive through "Pampa Cañahuas (part of the NP Aguada Blanca) with a short lunch break.
Then we went on to "Lagunillas" = a lake on 4174 Alritude with flamingos.
And then we continued to Puno (Titicaca lake) and arrived there around 7:30 pm and found a nice Accomodation just around the corner of the bus terminal. 20 Sol/person with cable TV, hot shower and very important - strong Wifi! We did lots of research for the next destinations - because Internet is going to be more weak! :-(
The next day our bus to Copacabana, Bolivia departs at 7:30 am.
It's the 12th country for me :-)
